Multiplayer-Focused Pokémon Game Seemingly Leaks Online

A significant leak suggests that a multiplayer-focused Pokémon game is in development. Recently, The Pokémon Company has faced a series of smaller leaks, including unverified details about Generation 10. However, this new leak, dubbed the “Teraleak,” centers on Game Freak, one of the key development teams, and is being called the largest Pokémon leak to date.

Game Freak has been responsible for developing many mainline Pokémon games, including Sword and Shield as well as Scarlet and Violet. They are also leading development for the upcoming Pokémon Legends game, Z–A. Interestingly, ILCA, another well-known Japanese developer, also appears to be involved in this new project. ILCA is recognized for its work on Pokémon Home and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and now leaked files suggest both studios are collaborating on a new multiplayer Pokémon game.

On October 12, around 7 PM PT, news about this game began circulating online. Initially rumored under the codename Synapse, there were speculations it might be an MMO. However, a few hours later, Centro LEAKS clarified that the screenshots surfacing online were inaccurate, and the game is not expected to be an MMO. Confirmed details reveal that the game may resemble Splatoon in terms of gameplay, although specific similarities have yet to be detailed.

This massive leak comes shortly after hackers teased the starter Pokémon for Pokémon Legends: Z–A, sparking discussions within the Pokémon community. The leak also sheds light on Generation 10, now believed to be titled Gaia, which is expected to be developed for both the Switch 1 and Switch 2 platforms. While there is still a considerable amount of data to sort through, the leak has already unveiled early designs of Pokémon, map editors, and game proposals from previous Pokémon titles.

As of now, Game Freak has not officially commented on the leak. However, on October 10, just days before the leak, the company issued an apology concerning a data breach in August 2024, which exposed the personal information of over 2,000 employees. Though the company has contacted affected individuals, the notice did not mention any of the leaked game details or files.
